Injection molding tight tolerance connector housings and shells has been one of the specialties of Interplex Plastics since our inception in 1980. Our expertise in molding a variety of engineering grade resins allows us to service many different electrical and electronic applications from simple wire crimps to complex 100 position connector housings. The highly skilled toolmakers at Interplex Plastics are experienced at maintaining and changing over complex modular tools. These tools make “families” of multi-position connector housings. Some of these molds make 16 different but similar parts. The parts look very similar but have a different number of holes, or “positions”. The size of the part is determined by the number of positions. The same mold may produce 1 or 2 parts each cycle. These parts could range in size from a 10 position housing to a 100 position housing in a variety of combinations, for example a 30 position and 10 position housings running at the same time in the same tool.
